This last year has been a hot mess. I know that everyone feels the same. As for the school? Well, we first started the school year as preschoolers, but our school is so small that it was nearly impossible to organize a separate classroom for kids to come and get marks. So we went back to school, and it was, and still is a wild ride. Classes are so short that kids barely have breaks in between two classes, and sometimes they don’t have time for lunch. This is not a big problem when they have afternoon classes, but when class starts at 8, it’s a problem. They get hungry, and can’t pay attention.
This is not the only problem parents have. We have four shifts in school. You read correctly, four. And we change it every week. Week one school starts at 8 o clock, the second week at 12 o clock, the third week at 10:45, and the fourth week at 14:15. And we have two different schedules, depending on the week. It is enough to make your head spin.
I am lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mom for now, but what about those parents that have to work, or those who are considered essential workers. I salute them for managing work and a crazy school schedule. I don’t know how they do it. I don’t work, and I feel overwhelmed. I have a third-grader and a preschooler, and no help. So, that is why I am a stay-at-home mom for now. It would be almost impossible to work and manage their school and karate practice and all the housework.
So for all the parents out there that are struggling, a have feelings that they are failing, you are not alone. We will get through this, and we will survive.
